[Support our Advertisers!] Contributions from our Members:   "Impossible to Please" ... My daughter was pouting. I had added to our daily list of things to do. She felt I had gone too far this time, but, honestly, I hadn't. "Something else? We already have so much to do! Aren't we ever done?" This tired cry sounded so familiar to me. I saw this in Timberdoodle's catalog and it looks interesting. Has anyone used it? Thanks!

I have both volumes (I was able to pick them up cheap Very Happy )

This is an intensive Bible study. Honestly, each volume would take 2-3 years to do. It is in a very simple question and answer format. You read a section of Scripture and then there is a set of questions about that section. That isn't what takes all the time. What takes the time is the number of cross references! Each section is loaded with cross references so that you can dig much deeper. If you look up all the verses for each section that is what takes so long but I have to admit, it is VERY interesting. By the time you get through both volumes I imagine you will have read every verse in the Bible several times. There are also a lot of nice illustrations in the book. There there a companion CD that has a program to make customizable Bible reading plans.

Each volume is a stand alone. Each volume goes through the entire Bible but each volume has different questions and different cross references.

The big advantage to this is that the questions are all very objective so there is no room for denomination interpretation so there should be absolutely nothing to conflict with your personal beliefs. For example, there may be a question like, "What were the names of Noah's three sons?"

There is a space next to all of the questions to record your answers right in the book and the correct answers are in the back. These are two HUGE hard back volumes.

Their web site has a ton more info and some sample pages...

One thing that they have added to the web site is hyperlinks for all of the cross references which is pretty cool. It does save a lot of time flipping.

Yes! We used BTS this year. Michelle described it perfectly in her reply. We also bought the Bible on dvd to go along with the books. We found that we used the dvd at the first of the year, but later, we enjoyed taking turns reading ourselves.

I like how the questions encourage deeper interest and discussion in the day's reading. As a visual person, I really enjoyed the pictures too - in fact they often sparked additional discussion too - "I would have drawn that scene differently and included..." or "That's exactly how I would have pictured it.."

I would have loved to buy a set of these volumes for each of the children individually, and have them write the answers in along with their own notes. What an incredible record of their journey through the Bible that would be for them to enjoy when they're grown.

Blessings,
Laurie

"Blessings or Lack Of?" ... Setting the example of contentment in our own circumstances can help our daughters learn to appreciate God's dispensations of provisions in HIS children's lives. Sometimes our children have heard us complain about what we don't have and have learned to look for satisfaction in money or possessions.
